Second, I verify SDS and certification paperwork before placing an order, not after. If a vendor can't produce it upfront, that's my answer.
Third, I bring the operations manager in before going out to bid. He catches red flags I miss.
One thing I still kick myself about: ignoring every sign that the low bidder wasn't prepared to serve us. If I'd asked for references or run a small test batch first, we'd have seen the problems early.

When applying this update to a water treatment program, review site water analysis, metallurgy, target discharge limits, current SDS revision, and the internal approval route used by EHS and procurement. A single product name rarely carries enough context for a confident substitution decision.
